Five local charities benefit at Pacific Union International Evening of Philanthropy

A just-listed architectural masterpiece in the Riviera area of Pacific Palisades was the dramatic backdrop for the Pacific Union International Evening of Philanthropy Casino Night Summer Celebration on June 21. Real estate professionals and clients from Southern and Northern California came together at the event, the company’s first in Los Angeles, to celebrate and play casino games to benefit the Pacific Union International Community Giving Fund.
“Our fund is the heart and soul of our company,” said CEO Mark A. McLaughlin. “A portion of the commission on every home we sell goes to benefit local causes where we feel we can make a real impact.” Fund support focuses on community, education, environment, housing, healthcare and the arts.

Five charitable partners were presented with checks during the event. They included the Sea Save Foundation, focused on protecting our oceans by raising awareness; the Children’s Lifesaving Foundation, dedicated to transforming the lives of LA homeless and at-risk children and families; Prosperity Homes, providing residential support for individuals with mental or intellectual disabilities; the Dr. Kesari Foundation at St. John’s Santa Monica, aimed at making a significant and continuing impact on the lives of individuals with brain cancer; and AbilityFirst, committed to to helping people with disabilities achieve their personal best throughout their lives.
The location was a new Michael Lee-designed coastal contemporary on Amalfi Drive in Pacific Palisades. Just listed at $15,999,000 by John Hathorn and Charles Pence, the stunning architectural features a floating roof and striking walls of stone, glass and Perla Blanca shell stone. Guests circulated through floor-to-ceiling glass doors from the open plan gourmet kitchen and great room to a blissful outdoor sanctuary with grassy lawn, pool, sundeck, entertaining patio, firepit and BBQ kitchen. A floating staircase leads to a sunlit upper level and a sleek master suite with ocean glimpses, a balcony and a spa-like bath retreat. The lower level holds a bar, gym/yoga studio, theater and climate-controlled wine cellar.
