Work From Home — Day 76
Safety & Family First; 3rd Grade Dropout
5:00AM PST
Team –
Our country is experiencing a primal scream as a result of an abuse of power. That said, freedom and peace have no tolerance for this level of violence.
We were all stunned by the news of the killing of George Floyd. This brings two powerful attributes to the forefront of our minds.
First is the depth and breath of racial tension that remains so prevalent in America today. The second is the deep responsibility of our personal best behavior goes so far beyond our health in COVID; it’s likely the deepest responsibility we have to the value of being an American.
Dig deep, bring out your personal best values and insist your neighbor does the same!
Paul Cayard sent this video to me over the weekend. His only word in the email was “powerful.” It’s the commencement speech at the 2017 California Maritime Academy by Rick Rigsby, PhD. Especially with the tragedy this weekend, take 10 minutes now to watch this commencement speech.
We all need inspiration in life – especially now.
Tuesday’s Path Forward at 2PM will be one to remember. I must say I am looking forward to our guests and their perspectives as much as anyone. We will be joined by:
- Michael D. Selfridge, Chief Banking Officer, First Republic Bank will lead off with a unique perspective on the US banking and real estate markets. One of the finest financial institutions in the world and our “go-to lender” for California jumbo loans.
- Ryan McKeveny, CFA and Director, Zelman & Associates will follow with a national perspective on the real estate industry. His work caters to institutional investors, real estate services executives, and other industry participants.
The Floyd Family made some very strong statements last night. Powerful in their own words!
Silence is complicit. Let’s hope we have several defendants.
Stay safe this week takes on an entire new meaning. Hug all those close!
This is Where We Are Now.
Thanks!

Team –
Congratulations to Brad Inman for bringing Inman Connect to our homes in the middle of SIP. Inman Connect NOW starts tomorrow June 2nd @ 11:00 AM ET. The agenda and sessions are deep in content – register here.
I am especially looking forward to the Gary Keller one-on-one with Brad Inman. The performance two years ago was spirited! Check it out tomorrow, June 2nd at 12:10 – 12:40 pm ET.
Only to be followed by Brad Inman interviewing Robert Reffkin on Wednesday, June 3rd at 11:20AM ET.
Don’t miss these two interviews!
It’s hard to believe in the middle of this chaotic, crisis driven world that June is shaping up to be an amazing month of closings. Our outlook on the first of the month is approaching 800 units. As a perspective, we closed 885 and 1012 respectively in 2019 and 2018.
885 units is not out-of-reach for June 2020.
Congratulations to Jill Silvas and her team in Sonoma, CA. They are on track for their finest month ever.
Don’t miss our Path Forward tomorrow @ 2PM PT. Our guests Michael Selfridge, Chief Banking Officer, First Republic Bank and Ryan McKeveny, Director, Zelman & Associates will share an amazing macro-perspective on our industry.
This is Where We Are Now.
Thanks!
Mark
