Special Mid-Year Update
From the DEI Team
Hello Compass Team,
Happy May! Half of 2022 has blown by so fast, and I’m amazed by how much we were able to accomplish these past four months!
This flash report is a monthly update for all current DEI initiatives and programs, Affinity Group work, events, resources and activities happening around the company. We are excited to share this work with you all, and have provided more resources, further down, for additional ways to connect with us.
The work of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team is comprehensive and intentional.
Our focal points center around recruiting the next pipeline of diverse talent, retaining the incredible talent that is already here, promoting a culture in which everyone feels supported, positioning Compass as a community partner, and providing resources and educational tools for our employees and agents.
We have aligned our initiatives and achievements in three pillars:
As a continuation of our work, I am excited to share with you two employee and agent program updates to advance our culture of inclusion and career growth, and to support the dynamic talent we have at Compass:
Employee Sponsorship Program
We just launched the second iteration of the Product & Engineering Employee Sponsorship Program (with over sixty participants) to recognize, retain, and promote underrepresented tech employees. Congratulations to our sponsorship participants and thank you Melissa Behrens for being an amazing co-lead! |
Agent Mentorship Program
We successfully launched our first-ever Agent Mentorship Program in Northern California with mentees, from marginalized communities, paired with their own agent mentor – 14 participants total. During the six-month program, the mentors and mentees focused on various topics from growing one’s client network to building a brand to listing tips. Kecia Clark, one of the mentees, shared with us that she and the other mentees are “learning lessons in a few months that sometimes take years to learn. This is an excellent program that is having a real impact on new agents’ experience.” The program received.a 4.9 rating that mentees feel more equipped to run their business with the experience they received. Additionally each mentor and mentee saw over 1M+ uptick in sales after participating in this program. Congratulations to our mentorship participants! |
.
Expanding programs such as these are essential to continue our commitment of building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive community for Compass.
We look forward to working with more teams across Compass to scale these programs and further impact!

We have certainly made some strides in the US since the act was passed. But there are still some serious inequities that need to be addressed.
Feel free to join in the conversation or just be an active listener. Bring your lunch and tell a friend/colleague to join!
